County appreciates value of Georgetown Airport

Dear Editor,

The Board of Supervisors is committed to assuring continuous service at the Georgetown Airport. The county is in the process of recruiting a Fixed Base Operator to assume duties at the airport when the current FBO, whose contract is expiring, moves out. Should there be a gap between the present operator and the next one, county staff will continue services at the airport, maintaining security, and providing fueling capability. The Board of Supervisors recognizes the economic potential of the Georgetown Airport and is very supportive of the work staff is doing to improve the airport. Among the projects planned for the airport are several which will be completed in the next few months.. The county is adding front gate lighting: has scheduled pavement work: and will be installing a fuel card lock system similar to gas station self-service, which will allow pilot to fuel their own planes. More long term improvements are also being planned to help the Georgetown Airport continue to thrive and be an integral part of what Georgetown has to offer for its residents and visitors.
